Of course, we do not have only one opinion. For some, it is a “piece of concrete”, while for others the water tower stands as a landmark of Hellange. In the CSV, it is the same as with the people. When we asked them for their opinion in 2017, there was no clear trend to be seen.
That’s why our representatives in the municipal council abstained. And also brought a referendum into play. The people should be allowed to say whether it is desirable to keep the water tower. Because in the end, tax money is being used for this. Which comes from all of us. And since we do not all see the same benefit in this classification and renovation, the population must be involved.
In advance, the pros and cons of a project can also be discussed controversially. In the case of the Hellange water tower, this would be, for example, the architectural value of the tower against the costs of its renovation. These have, in fact, become more affordable in recent years. From a clear 7-digit figure to now “only” 585,000 euros.
