A municipality is also challenged to guarantee its services as far as possible in this unfamiliar situation and to support its inhabitants as best as possible.
For us in the CSV, it is important that in this phase we work together to find solutions, regardless of party affiliation and political convictions. Therefore, our 3 councilors Claude Arend, Michèle Hansen-Houllard and Marc Jacoby pledged their support to the CSV and submitted a series of proposals to the local council about what the municipality could undertake in the coming weeks.
Specific proposals include:
- Use modern media (Internet, Facebook, Frisange-App for mobile devices, sms2Citizen) more intensively and above all even better to inform people with important information about the current situation.
- Parallel to this, regular distribution of flyers with all important information for people who are not so familiar with the new media.
- As the recycling center is currently closed, cardboard, green cuttings, glass and plastic are piling up in many places. To avoid people throwing these things into the black garbage can, the service provider should be asked if they have the possibility to take at least glass and cardboard with them during this exceptional phase, if they are next to the garbage can because it is full. In addition, efforts should be made to organize regular tours through our villages with municipal staff to collect plastic and possibly green cuttings from private individuals with the municipality’s vans.
- Promote the Frisibus so that people who do not have a garden have the opportunity to come to our forests and get some fresh air. During this time, transport should also be free of charge.
In addition, the local businesses should not be forgotten. They are currently struggling with enormous financial losses. Even if the government is already doing a lot to help, our municipality should also provide a fund to support the commerce in our municipality through a distribution key to be determined. It would be fatal if local businesses in our municipality had to close their doors forever due to this crisis.
Another possibility would be to look at which contracts could be tendered in the short term to provide entrepreneurs with work as quickly as possible after the crisis.
Some of these ideas may have already been thought of by the local council, which would be even better. In any case, we as CSV section Frisange municipality are ready to contribute and ensure that our inhabitants and our local businesses are best supported by their municipality and that everyone is supported where it is possible.
