Upgrading community spaces in our municipality

At the municipal council meeting of October 27, the CSV submitted a motion to improve the offer of community spaces in our municipality. Among other things, this includes our playgrounds. Our proposal was to, together with the residents, perform an analysis of existing spaces and the specific needs in the various districts of our villages and create a program for the coming years to create new spaces and expand or renew existing ones. Here is the complete motion for reference: CSV Motion conseil 27.10.2021

After discussion in the municipal council, our motion was not adopted. The majority Är Équipe-DP voted against it, with only the LSAP joining our motion. The alderman saw it as a “double employment” because the local housing action program (PAL), which is to be created within the framework of the Housing Pact 2.0, also deals with improving the quality of life for residents. We see it differently. The main priority of the Housing Pact 2.0 is to create affordable housing. Improving the quality of life for residents covers much more than just community spaces: it also includes community rooms, commerce, proximity services, mobility, etc. Therefore, this subject represents only a small part of the entire PAL. The creation of the program that we called for in our motion would have been a perfect complement to the PAL, working in parallel to develop a whole series of projects that could then be realized within the framework of the Housing Pact 2.0.
